The rarest most exquisite collection of gowns, handmade by the ateliers of maison Valentino, might be my favorite haute couture collection thus far. Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli were inspired by gardens as a number of other designers were this season. It seemed to be the theme of Spring/Summer Haute Couture 2013. The duo’s beautifully constructed gowns of lace and wonderful crochet flowers were beautifully classic. It was a true representation of Italian heritage. There were two gowns that resembled Maison Martin Margiela’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection, I noticed. White and pink long sleeve gowns in a similar material reminded me of the Belgian designer’s style. Valentino’s caged gowns and capes were, by far, the most outstanding pieces.
