When it comes to fortune telling, I bet I’ve got you matched. From psychic readings to tasseography, I’ve done it all. In fact, I received a crystal ball reading, right here, at Zena Clairvoyant. As it turns out, I have always been curious about the Divine. Growing up, I was raised around Brujería (witchcraft) and Santería (Way of the Saints)—my mom would bring me with her when she visited her bruja (witch). As an adult I became attuned to Reiki and began working with astrologers, palm readers and psychics. And once I became a healer, I discovered I had the ability to read tarot cards, as well. This all came at the hand of my curiosity as a kid.
Throughout my twenties I explored fortune telling on a deeper level, discovering the many ways of predicting one’s future. For the most part, I did it for fun. Just hearing I could have my coffee cup read, was enough to get me going. Wouldn’t you want to try that? So, I met with a tasseographer: a person who tells fortunes by reading tea leaves or coffee grounds, and learned a lot through that experience. I received multiple tarot readings, and tapped into palmistry. I have had my palm read on many occasions, but most recently on a date… with a doctor, which was very strange.[columns size=”1/2″ last=”false”][/columns] [columns size=”1/2″ last=”true”][/columns]
Cartomancy was another type of reading I received—this time, from a woman who previously read Jennifer Lopez. Typically the reading is done with a deck of playing cards, as opposed to a tarot deck. Then there was chart reading (based on the date, time and place of your birth). I visited Enchantments in the East Village, and met with an older man in a back room. Through our 45-minute chart reading, I discovered I am a double Scorpio, along with other lovely and intriguing things. Enchantments is also one of my favorite shops in New York. Being surrounded by mystical energy really fuels me, and this place is full of it. (I also love hanging out with their cats.)[columns size=”1/2″ last=”false”][/columns] [columns size=”1/2″ last=”true”][/columns]
These days I no longer flip-flop in the psychic world. I just take my woes to one place, rather, person. While I was working at NYLON Magazine, I discovered my co-worker Cahleigh is the daughter of one Sancista and owner of healing sanctuary Sacred Journey. Gina is a Priestess, whom I go to with my life (even my mom goes to her). Since I cannot always make it to Beacon, where Sacred Journey is located, we take to hour-long conversations on the phone. Gina reads my cards in a very unconventional way. She guides and encourages me, and puts me in my place when need be. There is no sugarcoating the truth, Gina tells it how it is. All my friends know about the wonderful experiences I have with her, and now I’m revealing them to you.
If you are shopping around for a good psychic, I cannot help you. But, I can recommend a great one! For the first time, I am sharing my Sancista with the world. Give Sacred Journey a ring (845-325-1280) to book your first appointment. And don’t forget to tell Gina I sent you. I would also love to know how your reading went. If you have any questions, please comment below. Otherwise, I am looking forward to hearing all about your experience.
