Old Hollywood, New Year – Beauty Edition

The new year is literally around the corner and 2013 is perceived to be the energy shifting year, as well as the year of enlightenment. I am usually with family during the new year playing with babies, and falling asleep right after watching the ball drop on television. But my sneaking suspicion suggests this year is going to be the best to come, so I’ve been thinking about getting dolled up and spending the night party hopping with my friends in Brooklyn and Manhattan instead. Ever since I saw the Boardwalk Empire premiere a few years ago, I have been diggin’ the old Hollywood, classy but sexy lady vibe.

All the greats possessed it… Marlene Dietrich, Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, and Doris Day. Then there are more iconic screen starlets like Jessica Rabbit and Kim Basinger. There is something about a woman who is both sexy and classy without giving everything away. This New Year’s Eve I hope to achieve that look with elegant pin curls or finger waves, sleek black cat eyes, wearing rouge lipstick to top it off. Here are a few images that really inspired my look.

cateye1This Old Hollywood look is fairly easy to achieve and it will have you feeling ready to ring in the new year with confidence! A few days before New Year’s Eve I like to write down some of my goals and look back at the year, assess where I am at and decide where I am going. I am so excited for 2013 and for what’s to come. It has been such a challenging year for many of us, but I feel that this new year will mark for a brand new start!
