Holy Other, Chelsea Wolfe, and other romantically dark folk music played as the fashion bloggers and photographers crowded around the models in a private venue at the Bowery Hotel. Louis Mairone’s concept for Dominic Louis’ latest collection “I AM” was inspired by human insecurity. With photographer Zach Gold, Louis was able to convey his message through portraits the collection was be based on. The images were also debuted as you walked into the Bowery Hotel. Louis’ Fall collection entitled “A Study of Human Insecurity” was really beautiful in the way the clothes were a reflection of anatomy and the fabrics were worn as shields of protection. It was wonderful to see an incorporation of women’s pieces this season, even though I would have loved to see the women in heels as apposed to creepers. Models were made up to look as though they were branded with the initials DL on their bodies. The collection evoked beauty in it’s darkest moment and insecurity in it’s simplest form.
