Karl Lagerfeld went eco-conscious? Seems so after the big reveal of the Chanel spring 2016 show. “Fashion is part of the events of our times,” says Lagerfeld. Maybe he was suggesting our times are that of showing concern for the environment. The serene haute couture collection was showcased at the Grand Palais in Paris in a minimalist garden. Voluminous silhouettes in a neutral palette of signature tweed with long skirts took president, while embellished evening wear of recycled paper, organic woven yarn and wood chips carried the green assemblage to its grand finale; a dreamy wedding look made from wild cotton. If I were to marry tomorrow, expect to see my donning that enchanting cotton dress, even if I have to wrestle Rihanna.
