Beauty and the Beach

beachbum

Beach bums, have I got the goods for you! Although I continue to receive emails from retailers about the “Last Days of Summer” I beg to differ. In fact, I have yet to visit a beach until this weekend. As I think about packing my bag in preparation for a lazy day on the sand, I considered what I would take along. I consulted with friends about possibly having dinner afterwards and the truth is, if you are going to lay on a beach all day and dine at night, you will need a few reinforcements. I have here my go-to beauty products that will take you from the beach to the boardwalk.

First things first, get those gorgeous eyes covered! Instinctively, my first response to the sun is shielding my peepers with shade. Exposure to bright beams of light leaves my green eyes extremely sensitive and practically blind. My defense? Illesteva’s round-frame acetate sunglasses. The mirrored lenses reflect awesome colors and give your vision a violet tint. They are very practical in super cool way.

Haircare is another concern of mine. I insist on keeping my raven locks in tact, so I use Aveda’s Sun Care Protective Hair Veil. It’s a lightweight, water-resistant spray that protects your hair from the sun’s damaging rays with organic coconut oil, palm oil, and shea butter that helps condition and detangle strands. HOWEVER, if you want to get some real beach waves going… spray Philip B’s Maui Wowie Beach Mist and twist your hair into a braided up-do. When you are all set and ready to leave the beach your hair will have buxom body and surfer-girl texture. The mist nourishes your hair with Aloe Vera, marine extracts, and pure Orchid and Kukui with a delicious scent.

Now you’ve got your eyes and hair protected, but before you go prancing into the sun seeking seashells down the seashore, be sure to slather yourself in Shiseido’s Extra Smooth Sun Protection Lotion with SPF 38 PA++. Sunburns are awful and can be extremely painful, but using this highly nourishing sunscreen lotion will defend your face and body against damaging rays. There is no sense in basking in the sun and burning yourself in the process. Peeling pout? Not on my watch. Keep your pucker conditioned with Jack Black’s Intense Therapy Lip Balm with SPF 25. With 5 scents to choose from this hydrating balm contains antioxidants and superior moisturizers to protect your luscious lips from the sun. Dry lips are definitely one of my pet peeves.

You have laid out for hours and even taken a dip under those salty waves, now it is time to freshen up. Since your hair is already tied back you might want to rinse your body clean of any sand and tanning lotion with a quick shower on the boardwalk. Go ahead and hydrate your skin with Lush’s Vanilla De-lite Body Lotion. It’s made with organic coconut water, coconut oil, illipe butter and hibiscus and leaves skin supple and smelling sweet! Check out your skin, too. The great thing about having a day in the sun is obtaining a natural glow. I hardly ever wear makeup in the summer, especially when I have a tan, but a dash of Nars Orgasm The Multiple Stick goes a long way. It’s perfect for highlighting your cheeks and collar bones and has a peachy pink shimmer. This all-in-one is a girl’s best friend.

Finally, to complete your on-the-go look give those lips the love they deserve. After all, they have taken a beating from the sun and could use some shine. Givenchy’s Hydra Sparkling Magic Lip & Cheek Balm is all you will need. It comes in a sheer rosy pink and harmonizes with your skin tone for a customized, radiant flush of color. That sounds like magic to me!

Hope this helps for your Beauty and the Beach day.
