I spent another season covering backstage for Art Institutes, and it was so much fun! I was an Ai graphic design student, many moons ago, so working with the school a second time was pretty rad. The setup was the same as last season, but this time, I ran into an old friend. Dominic Louis, who’s shows I would attend (also, many moons ago), introduced me to Sarah DiGisco, Art Institutes’ HBIC with a contour brush. I watched as Sarah gave life to models’ with a few stokes of color (see below).
Being backstage was a real treat for me, because I realized two of my fall beauty predictions were accurate. I have a post waiting to publish on my app on braid styles to copy, one of which is a faux-hawk. Another stab at this coming season’s trend, was copper eyeshadow. That post is currently live on LCK app. What I didn’t see coming was graphic nails making a comeback. This is a definite must-try on my radar.
After peeking at all of the great style backstage, I got to hang at the front row to snap my favorite looks. The show began a little after 8 PM, but went off without a hitch. From what I saw, the Art Institutes’ students have their finger on the pulse of what’s hot. From the gorgeous colors, to insanely detailed design, the Ai show will most likely be at the top of my most favored collections of Spring 2017.
The finale was one of the most adorable parts. Models walked down the runway to collect their designers for one last strut.
Also, this might have been an, “I hate to see you leave, but I love to see you walk away” moment, if there ever was one.
