It has been a while now since I have applied anything but a few simple coats of polish to my nails. Those days I obsessed over pointed witchy talons are long over. Perhaps rounded extensions are it? As of late I’ve been loving the look of gel nails. In the past I have acquired the service at Valley and Sakura, but it has recently come to my attention that this can totally be an at-home treatment. Just a few days ago I stopped into a nail salon on the Upper East Side of Manhattan to get a gel manicure, afterwards I posted a photo on Instagram of my awesome nails. Lovely follower alliecupcake then shared a photo of my hand accompanied by Instagrammer wifelife’s gel nails. (here)
Rhian HY, also known as the beauty loving babe wifelife on Instagram, is a makeup artist from Michigan who has an entire YouTube channel dedicated to beauty. Her recent video is a guide to DIY gel nails. The process is the same as in the salon, and appears to be pretty straight forward. As of now I am growing my nails and going for a rounded tip. As soon as I reach my goal length I am definitely taking Rhian’s suggestion and trying it at home. She recommends a few products from CND and Sephora’s gel colour Havana Dreams. The beauty-retail shop also carries a complete kit available to buy online or in-store. Purchase SEPHORA by OPI gelshine™ At-Home Gel Colour System.
