Almost Naked – Beauty Edition

Editor’s Notes: The importance of maintaining beautiful clear skin is at the top of my beauty list. We have discussed hydration as a factor, including exfoliating and moisturizing in Aurielle’s ‘Travel Guide Tips’. But one thing is certain, concealer and foundation play a really big role in the appearance of an overall smooth complexion. Whether your main focus is accentuating your eyebrows or perfecting your cat-eye, the first step in your beauty regimen begins with a natural base. Aurielle has chosen 3 of her favorite looks for spring that offer soft and natural looking skin with a luminous glow.

There are various reasons for applying concealer, one of which is to soothe away tired eyes. Chanel’s Lift Lumiere Smoothing and Rejuvenating Eye Contour Concealer is the perfect fix. You can use this along with Laura Mercier’s Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 20 to cover any minor (or major) blemishes. Finish with a coat or two of your favorite mascara, followed by a light blush and bronzer combo one shade lighter than your chosen hue of pink lipstick. Since we are going for the sweet ‘Girl Next Door,’ pale pinks or even a yummy pink gloss will do the trick. Viola!

The idea for this look is to keep your base ultimately pale. You can do this with NARS’ Radiant Creamy Concealer which is best known for its luxurious texture and luminous finish. It is lightweight enough for obtaining full coverage without buildup. Continue with a light powder finish and opt for a deep aubergine or bordeaux lip shade. COVER FX’s Matte Setting Powder helps set the foundation, minimizing shine so your lips can do all the talking.

Queen Elizabeth I was the mastermind behind fashioning bright red lips and a stark white face in the 16th century, a look that was powerful and evoked a source of strength. In replicating the Queen’s opulent look with a 21st century take, begin with MAC’s ‘Pro Longwear’ Concealer using it around eyes and over blemishes. Soften your skin by applying MAC’s Mineralize Moisture Foundation for an even and natural tone. Your mascara should be minimal, one or two coats will suffice. Lastly, choose a shade of red lipstick that best suits your complexion. This high drama look will have you feeling like a queen in no time!
