BEAUTY BENEFITS

  1. Intensive Hair Conditioner: Coconut oil can work wonders for dry, damaged, tangled hair. Its fatty acids soften locks, making them manageable and lush. Use by rubbing a small amount of coconut oil between your hands then applying it to your hair from roots to ends one section at a time. Then rinse.
  2. Frizz Fighter: The coconut’s natural oils repel water, preventing moisture from entering the hair shaft thus creating frizz. Apply the coconut oil through evenly on dry hair, a little goes a long way, using it as a leave-in conditioner.
  3. Whitening Toothpaste: A study recently confirmed that a specific form of coconut oil can kill Streptococcus bacteria, which would be a step up from chemicals like Triclosan in your toothpaste. Apply to your toothbrush and brush normally. You can even rinse your mouth with coconut oil (oil pulling) for other wellness benefits.
  4. Makeup Remover: It takes off the most stubborn high-tech mascara with ease. Coconut oil’s gentle grime-removing antibacterial properties and keen hydration prevent lines and wrinkles too! Apply with a cotton pad and watch the makeup slide right off.
  5. Night Cream: Coconut oil can help make your skin feel better. The fatty acids help reinforce the skin’s natural lipid barrier, locking moisture in and promoting hydration for your skin. Remember, a little goes a long way, so apply an even thin layer over your face and neck.
  6. Lip Balm: The same fatty acids in coconut oil that help your skin lock in moisture, offer the same benefit for your lips. You can purchase ready-made coconut lip balm or carry a small container of your own. Apply as much as your heart desires.
  7. With Soap: Using coconut oil over your soap is a great way to moisturize and soften your hands as you wash up. This is a great idea and brings us back to those fatty acids in the coconut oil. They really help soften the skin. I’m telling you, you’ll be hooked! Apply a small amount over your soap and use together.
  8. Body Scrub: If you mix coconut oil with sugar or salt, you’ve got an amazing body scrub with exfoliating properties. It’s a no-brainer.
  9. Massage Oil: Another no-brainer is massage oil. Using coconut oil as massage oil is awesome because it doesn’t absorb immediately. The lubricating effect of coconut oil gives you a long time to ‘play with’ making it perfect for a body massage. Apply generously and have fun!
  10. Shaving Cream: Due to the lubricating nature of coconut oil, it’s easy to glide along the skin. Just proceed with caution, it might be tricky if you’re gliding too fast. Apply a thin layer for best use.
  11. Cuticle Oil: Using coconut oil on your cuticles shows serious beauty smarts! Coconut oil contains anti-fungal properties and helps keep cuticles soft. Although coconut oil doesn’t help nails grow, it can definitely keep your nails from becoming brittle. Apply warm, liquified coconut oil over cuticles as needed.
  12. Deodorant: I’m not too sure about using coconut oil as a natural deodorant on its own, but because of its antibacterial properties I would apply a little under my arms in addition to your usual antiperspirants for added protection.
